WECAN worked very hard to get buildings on the southside energy efficient; Also is associated with EAN (Energy Action Network) an organization comprise of churches, community organizers, and membersof WECAN who try to conserve energy such as LIHEAP, CEDA, and Weatherization

Peterman has used recycled materials to produce starkly minimal works that function as elegant sculpture, functional objects, and critiques of environmental waste and neglect.
